Did I just binge the entire novel so far and immediately recommend it to friends? Perhaps. Saying that I'm hooked is an understatement.
It reminds me of my favorite parts of Dune - the nonstop games of chess going on in each character's mind, the meticulous worldbuilding. So Ga and especially Min La are so interesting and sympathetic, and it's a breath of fresh air to read a story where traditional virtues are respected and even rewarded.
Regarding this chapter, I am SO curious what the payoff to the orange scent/implication they're in a "thin place" will be... what a way to take an already interesting situation in an entirely different, even more interesting direction!
Thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to recommend it to others. And thank you for your comment. Little notes of appreciation like yours are very encouraging when I'm toiling away, hunched over my keyboard... Thank you again, I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the novel!
You’re welcome! This is the most engrossing story I’ve run across in at least a year… something I tell the people I recommend it to is that The Blue Prince has never once disappointed me. When I’m wrong about where the story is headed, the actual direction is inevitably better than I predicted; when I’m right, it’s in the most satisfying way. This book is addictive!
And thank you for the work you do to make writing less of a lonesome labor for your fellow authors. Your YouTube channel has helped me immensely both in terms of craft, and in encouraging me to write the stories I’m excited about telling, rather than mashing them into the formulaic boxes expected by and large by agents and publishing houses.
That, I think, is when you know you're on the right track, when you're excited to just tell your story. I'm glad I've been able, in some small way, to help you find that. Good luck with your writing, and thank you again for reading, and for sharing my story with others!
I've been reading this story to my wife every night for about a month now, and we are never disappointed! Tragic but inspiring chapter. I love the protagonists strong sense of justice, and their shock and horror at evils done.
This comment made my day, thank you! I feel honored, in all honesty, that my humble little story is something that you and your wife have chosen to share with each other. I hope you both continue to enjoy it!
Thank you! I'm sure we will! So glad to find an author who's writing a book that's not filled with weird modern notions and propaganda. It's like a breath of fresh air!
I intend to get more into his illness as it becomes more relevant, but my intention is for it to be a bit like interstitial lung disease or fibrosis with a possibility for complications similar to tuberculosis. It's a made-up sickness, but I wanted it to have to some conceivable basis in human reality.
Like many commenters, I found your site/ novel from your YouTube channel. I am really enjoying it so far and can't wait to see what happens next!
It seems you have at least one person finding typos on the other chapters, so I will add the one I noticed: a few paragraphs from the end, Nol should be making "discreet" inquiries.
This just keeps getting better and better. So much intrigue, who to trust and who is playing who. And now just when things are getting tense another brush with the other side? Fantastic!
I have not read: Unwelcome in the House of Avoth. But as an errant adventurer and pilgrim I can feel the foreboding of approaching such a place of renown. I, a lowly soldier have only perchanced upon such sigils as would admit me. But perhaps these heardsay anagrams are unworthy? I'll just have to try my luck at the gates of the House of Avoth.

I recommended The Blue Prince to my son today. I expect you'll have a new reader. BTW, another fantastic chapter!
Thank you! I hope he enjoys it!
This is a powerful chapter! A great combo of revelation and added questions.
Are we to read So Ga's illness as something like asthma? Or more like TB?
Thank you!

Indeed you're right. Thank you, I'll fix it!

The scent of oranges. Precisely the unusual, exotic scent to increase our heroes' wariness, for I presume oranges are not common in the lands.
And yet if I am wrong my curiosity will be piqued all the more.
