my heart breaks. of course it's the young family who's murdered. I wonder if the husband ever learned he was going to be a father?

I also wonder if this is traditional bandit behavior or if this is clearly mercenary work.

The momentum builds...

I always smile when I receive the message that you've posted the next chapter. I fight the temptation to read it immediately. So far, I have displayed good self-control and wait to make myself a fresh cup of coffee before reading. (BTW - I laugh each time you reference coffee in the story :) ) Thank you for sharing this with us and for your YouTube videos.

I'm just happy you're enjoying it. That means the world to me, thank you!

(I considered not having coffee in my world. But then I remembered: my world, my rules. How could it even be MY world if there was no coffee? Unthinkable!)

I was hoping for this quartet, they seemed like a good fit in the previous Pitiful Son chapter. While I enjoyed the prior chapters, I am happy to get back to the fugitives on the run. What a tangled web to navigate and the enemies breathing down their neck at every turn!

Hey Hilary! :-) Great to see a new chapter for the Blue Prince. Can't wait to read the whole book in hard copy.

On a side note: In one of your YT videos you mention that you're primarily a scholar of ancient and medieval history. I was just curious, have you checked out / listened to the Fall of Civilizations Podcast on Youtube? It's like my secret gem right now. There's a 7 hour vid on the history of the Mongols and Genghis Khan. Absolutely fascinating and inspiring stuff!

I've had a number of very bad experiences with history podcasts and so I'd more or less given up on them. But I'll put that one on the list to try, thank you!

Ah sorry to hear that. I'm not an expert on history podcasts. I think Fall of Civilizations is the only one I've listened to. (There's also "Then and Now" channel - history of western philosophy - which is also very good.) But as far as I can tell Fall of Civilizations Podcast is really excellent. No mumbo jumbo or speculation. All of the information is based on historical texts and properly cited, and beautifully presented.

The episode I mentioned above is: 19. The Mongols - Terror of the Steppe. But it's 6 hours 45 mins long haha! For a more manageable start to Fall of Civilizations podcast:

Episode 1: Roman Britain - The Work of Giants Crumbled is very cool too, and only 1 hour and 8 mins!

Alrighty - hope ya enjoy! :-)

Wow, I'm catching up too fast (I just found this book a few weeks ago) and I need to pace myself so I don't get left hanging by one of these cliffhangers too long :-)
