I can’t wait! I discovered you on YouTube after I started researching the hijacking of my favorite genre (fantasy) by “Romantasy.” So glad I did because your videos are superb.
I’m also a writer. Or, was a writer. I had three books published (not self-published, the traditional way) back between 2003-2010, a fantasy trilogy that I’m very proud of. I’d love to get back to writing but I’m currently busy being a full-time pastor. So, I do write, but mostly sermons. I love to write fiction, though, and you’ve been a big help to me as I consider with my family how to ease back in. 😄 reading is also helping me a lot!
Thank you for inspiring someone you don’t even know. 😄
Thank you for this wonderful message! I'm glad I was able to offer a little inspiration and I hope you can find a way to get back into writing (fiction)!
I'm excited for the book club! I look forward to reading the books that inspire you and learning more about you as an author and a person.
I have long held the fantasy of writing a book but have never been able to concentrate long enough to finish an idea.
In school I was forced to write and I was quite good at it with little training from teachers. I just had a knack for effective communication. I regret wasting my talent and would like to figure out how I can lock in and finally finish a first draft.
I'd like to try your book club. I am a very tired novelist who believes in things that are not popular anymore—things like value-driven storytelling, meaningful themes, evidence-based principles of craft, and quality over quantity. In particular, I detest AI slop, the rapid-release economy, and modern "romance" (porn). I found you on YouTube about a year ago, and I appreciate your willingness to say the things that (I hope) more than a handful of people are thinking.
You have quickly become my favorite YouTube right at the perfect moment! I've been trying to be much more mindful about the media I consume, growing tired of the lackluster standards in stories today. This book club sounds like a perfect way to have more substance in my literature adventures. Can't wait~
I am recommending your book club to @Ani Beeler, @Eliza James, @Sienna Love, @JamesLuo, and @Madeline Behr. I will wait until everyone responds back. Thanks!
I had considered that and so I do intend to try to pick books with wide availability. Balcony In the Forest, for instance, does have an ebook. Let me know if you encounter any issues and I'll see if I can help!
I have greatly enjoyed your videos, which echo some of my own thoughts. As a young mom who used to teach junior high and high school English and reads a lot but without the benefit of being able to discuss it at length with others, this book club is almost exactly what I have been wishing for. (If only we could have it in person!)
I had been thinking of April 1st as the first official day. Now that I've seen how much interest there is in The Book Club I'll be able to be more definite. I'll send out an email to the members in a week or so officially announcing the date and the book. I hope this gives everyone who wants to join enough time to acquire the book.
And thank you for the well wishes, I wish you the same!

It seems you and I have many things in common. I hope you can find something helpful, valuable, and even enjoyable in the book club!
The book is on its way. I'm looking forward to starting it.

Cool Saturn profile pic! :-)
My only concern is access to the books themselves because I don't live in America. I have access to everything on Kindle, though.

I am interested in participating. I'm new here to your postings. I'm hoping I will get the book tomorrow.
First rule of book club - you only read already popular books :D
Would LOVE to join but I'm shamefully broke...
Yes, me too. I buy too many books.
Perhaps there is a way to have a sponsor ?
