This was a great listen!

If you ever make a list of good movies/tv shows similar to your Bookshop I would love to see it. It’s so hard to find them 🥲

Absolutely, that's a very good idea! I do have some lists in my book recommendations section. But in terms of modern novels with genuinely well-written female characters, the new serial novel by Edith Birde ("Because I Killed Him") that I recommended in my Notes has been a fantastic read so far.

Listened to this on YouTube and I'm truly loving your point of view!! I'm hoping to write a fantasy novel with a female protagonist and am definitely taking notes so she isn't … well…. You know 😬😅 thank you for your insight!

This was very well put together. I finished the first draft of my book at the end of the year, and I’m deep in my initial edit. Despite being surrounded by women, as a husband with daughters and granddaughters, one of the things I was most concerned about was how well or terrible I handled the female characters. Your thesis is an excellent measuring stick for just that. I think I’m mostly in the clear.

I made my wife listen to your video, actually just recommended it so I didn’t wreck her agency 🤣, but afterward she posed the question as to how much of how we got here with the girlboss thing was from culture spilling into literature and how much literature shaping culture. Certainly by now both are fueling each other which is dangerous, but something we’ll continue discussing. Excellent work. Thank you for making these.

I appreciate both healthy masculinity and healthy femininity. So, it does pain me to see these traits constantly being downplayed, trivialized, and outright shamed in pop culture. I wanted to talk about it, but then came across this. You've talked about almost all the points on the feminine side that I had on my mind- and a few others, but with so much more profundity and grace than I probably could. Appreciate it.
